Book Cover Image Needed

Zen and the Heart of Social Media logo

Can you help?

(WORLD) We're looking for a suitable image to use on the cover of our forthcoming book, Zen And The Heart Of Social Media.

The original one we had is not permissible by iStockPhoto for use in print and the next one we tried looked too much like the Presentation Zen image.

So can you (or someone you know) help?

We will give you total credit and all the link love you need plus we'll find a suitable gift for you as well.

Zen And The Heart Of Social Media will be launched December 1st 2009.

On Twitter please hashtag all things ‘Zen And The Heart Of Social Media’ with #zathosm

Why not get someone to design it that you met via social media?

I could recommend some brilliant designers/illustrators from the local twitterati?

Hey Neil, we’re OK on the actual book layout and feel, it’s literally just a photograph we need.

We know a number of people are handy with cameras, so maybe someone has a great image that they would love see used on a book? A warm glowing feeling is guaranteed, I’m sure :)

  3. Neil Cocker Says:

Yeah, that’s kind of what I meant – get someone to draw/design an image for the front cover (in place of a photographer).

You’re welcome to any of these:

I’ve got a load of other pics that might be suitable, but not sure how to link to my most “favorited”. Really need to get round to upgrading to Pro!

Thanks for offering your fab lomos Neil – really appreciated :-)

As it happens, I finally got round to upgrading to Flickr Pro yesterday (mainly so I can host all my photos somewhere before they perish on an old hard-drive). I’ve created a favourites set. There may be something in here you can use:

Not to be too negative, but I would really like to ask if you will be giving away your book for free? Because what you are asking is basically for photographers to give you their image for free (the bit with love, link etc. is a bit irrelevant for a photographer that’s running a business). I know nobody is forcing any photographer to give you an image, but the problem is more and more magazines are doing the same thing you are doing and that makes it difficult for photographers.

  7. DK Says:

Hey there Catalin – yes we will be giving the book away for free. You probably didn’t have chance to go into the previous posts but here it is:

http://mediasnackers.com/2009/09/zen-and-the-heart-of-social-media/ – detailing how the book will be available for free to read online (and how there are paid version of the book available).

  8. Catalin Says:

    Hi,

You’re right I didn’t spot the post where you said the book is available online for free. I apologize for asking, but as a photographer I get at least a couple of emails a week from magazines asking me if they can use my images for free. My usual response is “Are you giving away your advertising for free?”. Anyway, good luck with your book!

  9. DK Says:

No worries Catalin – we get similar requests for our services as well (although we do do a pro bono project a year). Thanks for the good luck wishes and same to you in your endeavours :-)

  10. Emma Says:

I can recommend Polylooks if you’re looking for images. they’re all rights free and you can buy a book cover image for 50 pounds or less (merchandise license).
    :-)

Thanx for taking the time to leave a comment but we’ve already had someone create/donate an image for us : http://twitter.com/mediasnackers/status/5885473773
