(WAL) Back again with the Welsh Assembly Enterprise department exploring their use of social media in forthcoming campaigns to get more young people involved in entrepreneurial activities in the country.
Today we’re introducing them to several different platforms and getting them to create different types of digital content—all with the aim of enabling them to design from the actual rather than perceived when it comes to devising their future social media strategy.
(GBR) After trawling through nearly 500 postcards we’ve chosen our favourite response to win the iPod Touch (as promised).
Not only does it embody our ethos of inspiring change through social media via education, it also serves as a great illustration of how empowered young people can feel through using the web.
Winner : Lucy from Liverpool

Many thanks to all our distributors who took on the task without reward which helped us to create The Web Makes Me Feel project.
Extra : for those who couldn’t attend the launch event here’s my short opening presentation (captured by @potatowedge):
We don’t want to just push our existing content from this blog / Twitter / Flickr / YouTube etc, or add to the information-overload as people binge on the social media buffet. We’re rolling a few ideas around to define what the space is for (and in fact if we do need it)—here’s our current thoughts:
use it as a showcase for other people in our network : much like our podcasts and vodcasts
specific offers : cut price deals on our services or something
when and where we are : so we can press some flesh and make some of our virtual network 3D
exclusive content avenue : brand new digital treats for a new audience
missions : with suitable rewards
For us, it’s important to understand the different between audience and market, taking the advice we give our clients, we are exploring the reason we have this social space. Like Seth says here:
Feel free to offer any ideas / insights / suggestions / other examples of good fan pages etc as we continue to work out why and if we need this social space.
In June 2007 BBC Northwest held a Technology and Audiences day aimed at increasing BBC staff awareness regarding our ever evolving audience requirements.
Barney Grenfell from MediaSnackers was a key contributor at the event, explaining how content is consumed and communicated particularly amongst our younger audience.
Barneys' brief was to assume little or no awareness regarding our online audience and it was evident throughout the presentation that many of the facts and trends presented were an absolute revelation to staff, proving a great talking point amongst staff.
