Keeping track of the growing MediaSnackers Meme.

(WORLD) We probably weren't the first to apply the 'snacking' metaphor to media, although there seems to be a growing adoption in terms of describing the new media landscape—we thought it would be good to keep an eye on the growing MediaSnacking meme:

My daily ritual involves as much media snacking, blogging and social networking as I possibly can for my clients and to build own my personal brand.

Got to love Deirde’s approach.

A buffet of delicious micro-media snacks.

Duncan started his presentation with a quick review of the changing media landscape and how the digitization of content is driving consumer choice. Mobile is another huge force, along with media snacking and social networking. All these things point to more power for consumers.

Sounds like a great presentation by Disney dude

I’m talking about how classical artists and organisations could use social media plus throwing a few tips around.

The Web Makes Me Feel

Well, wasn’t it a good one?

(GBR) A big thank you from everyone at MediaSnackers to everyone that joined us, we really appreciate the time and effort you took out of your evening.

From a good idea a few months ago to fruition on Wednesday, we’ve thrown artwork to and fro, debated the whole point of the thewebmakesmefeel.com project, got shouted down, amped back up, spent a lot of money, chased a lot of people, licked a lot of stamps, bitten a lot of finger nails and pulled out some hair—and not just me, everyone involved in the project, DK, Matt, Barney, Bobbie, Kelly, Jess, Emily, Matt & Roland. Whatever stage people became involved, you’re all a piece of the puzzle that wouldn’t have worked so well if you hadn’t played a part.

The videos have been edited, crunched and dropped online for you to view below. Two edits for you, first your answers to how you feel about the web, and secondly about the project itself and the value of emotional data.

TWMMF isn’t all about us, its all about you too, and thats why we’ve enlisted the skills of Dr Kelly Page to put together a report on the findings of the project available for purchase and download. Please download the free executive summary for an idea of what the report contains. Then share, discuss, blog and tweet on the topic – we’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

The project doesn’t end here, as I still have around 500 handwritten postcards from 13-19yr olds looking for a home. I’ll scan them all firstly, PDF and / or eBook them for sure, however what next? I don’t want to throw these things away. What can we do with them? Maybe we could bury them in a timecapsule? Add your suggestions in the comments.

Also check out the photos from the day, on our Flickr set to really get a flavour of what you were involved in (or missed).

A big chunk of our thanks has to go to you lot, the people who visited, talked about the project, got enthused about the subject, tweeted the messages and blogged the articles. We’ll be keeping an eye on people blogging and mentioning the project and adding them to the Event page of the twmmf website, but if we miss any, drop us a comment and we’ll add you in.

MS Alumni #6: Matthew Poyiadgi – CompTIA

MediaSnackers Alumni

(GBR) The MediaSnackers Alumni are a growing number of past clients that could just disappear into the ether if we didn’t catch up with them. We decided to hunt down and grill them to find out what difference their training had made in the way they work professionally and personally.

This months thoughts and insights are from Matthew Poyiadgi:

MS Alumni Matthew PoyiadgiWhat’s your role, who you work for, and what sort of things do you do?
I work for the global technology association, CompTIA, as Vice President of their International operations. I work with training, academic and corporate partners to help them validate and benchmark skills in their companies, by recognising that talent, and people, are their major asset! As the voice for the IT industry, I also deliver a lot of presentations for the company.

Its been a month or so since you have been drenched in the MediaSnackers ‘way’, what did you learn from the experience?
That the younger audiences we communicate with are our future customer and the future workforce. We need to understand how they communicate and use technology as a daily vehicle to living. As organisations if we don’t embrace social media, especially the tools the kids know so well today, we will become an ‘uncool’ company and the future talent will not want to work for us.

How have other members of the team/organisation, that didn’t attend the course, received your new techniques?
We are a small team here in London and fortunately everybody attended, and they loved it.

What has been the biggest and easiest change to make in the way that you work?
To encourage staff to get online, to embrace tools such as Twitter, YouTube and Slideshare and to be free to come up with ideas that they think would help our customers and our business.

Has there been any difficulty in implementing these new approaches?
Only in that the tools are new to us and so there is a degree of uncertainty in the unknown. But we live and learn don’t we!

What future projects do you have planned which utilise social media?
A company-based Twitter account (already in place), more presentations on Slideshare, and we will think of ways to engage via YouTube. Our website has been redesigned and looks great, so improvements are under way. As I said, we learn every day we experience these technologies, and we are enjoying it along the way.

Thank you for your time, Matthew Poyiadgi.

The Web Makes Me Feel Update #5

(GBR) Today is the event launch of thewebmakesmefeel.com website, hosted by the generous NESTA). We’re currently writing this on the train down to London carrying the tshirts, nametags, reports, postcards and other stuff ready for the event.

We’ve had a bit of a panic over the last 24hours with our website hosters Dreamhost as their servers went down and they had to switch us across to another one—hopefully it’s all fixed and no-one is having issues seeing thewebmakesmefeel.com

Also available today is the juicy report written by Dr Kelly Page, Insight Architect from Cardiff University and is available for only £100 (just click the image below to go to the buy page):

Street Athletics 2009

Technology Sunday!

(GBR) Myself and Bobbie were hanging out in London on Sunday, with Kash, Ryan and Mbali at the Street Athletics digital journalists training course—and loved it.

Being Prince’s Trust Ambassadors, they have been through a great digital media training course and found it no trouble converting their knowledge into a journalistic setting. The emphasis being, short tight edits, punchy pictures and quick uploads.

All the guys did a great job of filming, editing and blogging, and learnt the process of capturing a live event. Now it’s up to them to act as project managers for the young people that will be covering all the Street Athletics events throughout the UK.

Good luck guys, we have had a fun day—check out the video and photos below:

MediaSnackers have once again provided us with a top quality service, adding to our project and providing expert training. This is the second time we have used them and I’m happy to use them as I know we’ll continue to receive the same high level of service.
