BT's Better World

betterworld

Beyond just listening.

(UK) BT have launched their latest £4 million a year campaign to promote the use of communications skills to make a better world by promoting the voices of young people in society.

Cited in their launch is some research they carried out which highlights the government as the worst group of listeners by 56 per cent of the 1,200 children and young people they surveyed, followed closely by local councils (47 per cent) and high street shops (44 per cent).

Adrian Hosford, director of corporate responsibility at BT, said:

This research highlights that young people feel that society isn’t listening to them. At BT we believe that the ability to communicate effectively is the number one life skill. Through the Better World Campaign we will work to ensure young people in the UK have the opportunity to develop and grow their speaking and listening skills, helping them gain the understanding and collaborating skills necessary to lead a successful life in a digital age.

BT already deliver and support a whole host of youth-related initiatives and campaigns and are obviously attempting to consolidate these activities under one ‘umbrella’ (download their PDF report for more info).
