(US) YFly.com offers social networking for teens but with a focus on safety. Figure-head and co-founder, Nich Lacey got involved after he became aware his identity was one of the most frequently being used by internet predators.
A big differentiator is the ‘group texting’ facility:
Yfly enables teen users to take their online Yfly experience onto their cell phone through a unique group text messaging capability. This application enables teens to create an exclusive address, e.g. bestfriends@yfly.com, for their group that allows them to text message with all of their group members at the same time. So, instead of having to send the same text message to 30 different people in their group, he or she can send one message that reaches everyone and they will only be charged for one text message.
